Main Street Capital Holdings Announces Exit of I-deal Optics
Successful Investment in a Premier Marketer and Value-Added Distributor of Prescription Eyewear and Sunwear Frames
PITTSBURGH, PA – May 31, 2024 – Main Street Capital Holdings, LLC, a private investment firm specializing in acquisitions of growth-oriented companies, announced that it has sold I-deal Optics, Inc. to Nashville-based, Highland Rim Capital, L.P. Founded in 1996, I-deal Optics is a leading supplier of prescription eyewear and sunwear frames to the value segment of the eyewear market. The company delivers a combination of innovation and quality at the best prices possible across a broad portfolio of brands and styles. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Main Street acquired I-deal Optics in August of 2015. “When we acquired the company, it was a fundamentally sound business with a strong and enthusiastic management team that was motivated by ownership,” said Dennis G. Prado, a Partner at Main Street. “Over the course of our hold period, we worked closely with the I-deal team to make sure they had the resources they needed to continue their impressive track record of growth.”
“The nearly nine years of ownership demonstrates the patience of Main Street and our investors. The pandemic and other external market conditions extended our hold period, but we believed that exiting prematurely was not in the best interest of our investors, the company, or its management team. As an investor of private capital, Main Street can be uniquely patient and will always wait for the right time to sell a business. We were very opportunistic with the timing of the sale and we are pleased with the outcome for our investors and the management team,” said Prado.
“We’re very proud of what we have been able to accomplish with Main Street during their tenure as owners,” said Michael Feldman, President and Chief Executive Officer of I-deal Optics. “They were good partners and they supported us as we expanded the business, including the completion of a strategic add-on acquisition. Main Street was the right financial partner at this stage of I-deal’s evolution.”
